The Problem: I can't stick to a Diet

Diets! We've tried them all. Tried them all, and FAILED! Every time I try a diet all it does is make me realize what a failure I am. I mean, for goodness sakes  why can’t I just stick to a diet for more than three days? What happens to that initial excitement and motivation that inspires us when we finally do decide to stop our ridiculous eating habits and take action for our health? Every once in a while we decide “THAT’S IT! I’m going to lose weight!” and go on some crazy starving strike,till we cannot take it any more. And when that happens to me….I stuff my face like crazy! The day I stop my diet, feels like some one invited me to an “all you can eat” dinner after fasting for three days.

 

So I can go ahead and blame the current diet that I’m trying. You know how it goes, you get the latest “Good House Keeping” magazine, read some good success stories, can’t stop staring at “Before” and “After” pictures and decide “That’s it. This is going to work for me”. Well what do you know, it doesn’t! And then we usually just end up blaming the authors for presenting us with false promises and useless diets.

 

The Reason: Eating habits change too fast, Results are too slow

So I gave this issue some thought. Why do I fail time and time again? My conclusion was that one of my big problems is the drastic change in my eating habits. I mean, I go from eating everything under the sun to practically starving myself. My body simply cannot handle it. Yes, it does last a day or two but next time I pass by a bakery or steakhouse my mind goes blank, and my mouth goes into overdrive. We simply cannot drastically change like that. I’m sure it isn’t healthy either. I think this is something we all overweight people have to deal with, and find a solution for.
